In 2009, he returned to his undergraduate alma mater, Xavier University in New Orleans, an HBCU and the only Black Catholic institution in the world. In his sophomore year of college, Williams had begun to struggle academically and financially, but the leadership and faculty at Xavier gave him the opportunity to continue his education.
