The CSUEB Pathfinders Institute is dedicated to enhancing culturally relevant professional development through an intensive two-week program for faculty teaching critical first-year courses. Currently, one fifth of the U.S. population is Latinx, and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Latinx workers made up 66% of the workforce in 2021. By 2031, Latinx workers will make up 90% of the new workforce.

Starting in 2010, Dr. Willis served as an Assistant Professor of History, department chair, faculty senate president, and Executive Dean of Centers at Lone Star College (Houston, Texas). She also implemented Lone Star's first Doctoral Support Group for faculty and staff.
