As of fall 2023, 69% of the student population at CSUSB identified as Hispanic or Latino. In addition to support services that include financial aid and academic advising, an example of supporting Latinx student success is the CSUSB Impact Internship, developed by the university’s Undocumented Student Success Center.
At Oglethorpe, we have found both an opportunity and a responsibility to provide support to this growing student population. It is not uncommon for students to start college with between three and 12 credit hours already completed.
Applying to more colleges: In 2021, the average number of college applications submitted by new college freshmen rose to 7 from 6 applications the year before. One way to retain your current staff, and stave off disruptions to studentservices, is to right-size their workload by leveraging technology.
Eventually, I decided to apply for the College StudentServices Administration (CSSA) program at OSU. It was the only grad program that I submitted an application to. Concentrating on a single application made my process extremely focused. When I was in CSSA, I never participated in any academic advising experiences.

JHU affiliates must complete an application before visiting the pantry. Any JH staff, student, and faculty can access the pantry upon submission of a brief form upon arrival.
