It's no secret that the demand for interns is high, with some companies already in the race for interns for the 2025 season. Internships have historically been a great opportunity for companies to bring quality entry-level talent into an organization, making them vital to student and employer success.
For employers, extending offers to interns no matter what time of year is only half the battle in retaining the incoming class of temporary new hires. In a competitive workforce, it's not uncommon for interns to renege on accepted offers in hopes of finding something better.
Additionally, 21% were internationalstudents and 32% identified as caregivers. It's important to note that 21% of the respondents were internationalstudents. So if we break them out, we find that 22% of domestic students seek all or mostly in-person classes compared to 41% of internationalstudents.
As careerservices professionals who work or have worked in Texas, this has impacted us deeply that such a heavily populated minoritized state would pass legislation that could hurt the very citizens the state strives to elevate within their workforce agendas. Also, I’m concerned with how this will affect our internationalstudents.
